History

Ameya palak sanghatana (Amey Parents Association) is a public charitable trust organization running a hostel named Gharkul” for mentally retarded boys and girls above the age of 18 years. Our mission is to take care of these disabled children till their last breath. This trust was established in 1991 under the guidance of Late Major Kale and was established by the parents/guardians of mentally retarded boys and girls. After the death of Major Kale, under the leadership of Mr. Avinash Barve and Mrs. Nandini Barve, this organization has been running successfully for the last 30 years. Due to the immense hard work of all the members, the valuable support of well-wishers who help in social work, and the trust of parents and donors, this organization has created interest among all sections of society.

Currently, there are 35 residents in the Gharkul, including 6 full-time resident servants, to take care of food, health, and safety for the disabled residents. During the COVID-19 pandemic, these servants became Corona warriors and supported the residents like their mothers and fathers. The first Sunday of February is celebrated every year as Gratitude Day (Gratitude Day) to honor the servants who are the backbone of this organization.
